Planning for Africa is difficult. Map material is usually decades old and roads (and bridges) often fell into disrepair and have been rebuilt somewhere else. The political situation is even more unpredictable. The map below shows the route we initially planned. From South Africa via West Africa to Morocco. However, the elections in the DRC lead to a volatile situation there, more shaky than usual. And too uncertain for us to enter. Consequently we decided to re-route our journey through East Africa. The blue line shows the actual route we took.
