South America September 2008

For the first time in 3 ½ years after moving from Germany to Australia finally time was near to go back to Germany to see my parents and family again. It was also time to catch up with old friends and meet many little ones who were born after I moved to Sydney. 3 ½ years is a long time and much has changed in Germany since.

Travelling half way around the world to Europe there was no reason to go straight back home. At least not the shortest way and without a bit of adventure. So I booked my flight the other way around, to keep going west towards Australia. To make another one of my dreams come true and visit South America, crossing it from ocean to ocean. I had three weeks to travel from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to Santiago, Chile. After all it was time to live the backpacker life again, time to travel around in Buses, live of Pasta, stay in dorms and meet other likeminded people from around the world.

The following web pages will give some evidence of what happened in those 3 weeks with little stories and photos. Stations on my way across the continent included Rio de Janeiro, Paraty, Sao Paolo, Campo Grande, the Pantanal, Foz do Iguacu (Brazil), Puerto Iguacu (Argentina), Cordoba, Alta Gracia, Valparaiso and Santiago.

Enjoy the virtual journey!
